Programs Built for Every Young Voyager

Whether your child has never touched a paddle or is ready for multi-day wilderness adventures, we have a place for them at Summit Lake.

Ages 10–18 Year-Round

Voyager Paddling Academy

Our flagship program offers beginner-to-advanced kayak and canoe instruction. Young paddlers learn water safety, proper technique, lake navigation, and rescue skills in a certified, supportive environment. Progressions move from flatwater basics to open-water confidence.

Lake Stewards Program

Youth-led environmental stewardship at Summit Lake. Participants conduct water quality monitoring using real scientific instruments, lead shoreline cleanup events, and work on habitat restoration projects under the guidance of our Environmental Educator. Science and service, combined.

Ages 11–17 Summer

Adventure Camps

Our multi-day summer camps are immersive experiences combining paddling, hiking, wilderness survival skills, and environmental education. Campers build deep friendships, genuine outdoor skills, and a confidence that stays with them long after camp ends. Available as 3-day or 5-day sessions.

Community Flotillas

Free community paddle days open to every Akron family β€” no experience, no gear, and no registration required. Just show up at the Summit Lake boat launch, get in a kayak, and discover your lake. Flotillas bring neighbors together on the water with the simple message: this lake belongs to everyone.
